text:
Prussian kings and their entourage once roamed the grass of Berlin`s Tiergarten on the prowl. This bridge, which sits enthroned in the heart of the Tiergarten, did not survive the Second World War unscathed, as all the bridges were in ruins. The trees were used by the population as heating material, but fortunately times have changed.
Painting this harmonious leaf pattern was comparable to navigating a labyrinth. The art of extracting an image from a photograph is a practice I rarely use, but I appreciate the traditional craft.
Central Park in Berlin was founded back in 1527, but it took me a whole 492 years to immortalise it on canvas. Of course, I wasn`t busy for 492 years; artists are busy with other works, after all. The Corona period has brought its own challenges.
It is understandable that people can lose their bearings in the large central garden next to the Brandenburg Gate as they move deeper into the park. I can well relate to that feeling.
